This work provides an assessment of current and potential non-timber benefits associated with plantation and native forestry in the Northern Territory. The report explores operational and planned methods suitable and available to the NT to monetise the provision of various ecosystem services. The ACCU scheme and international carbon markets, and other nature markets are examined and assessed for their potential to support maintaining and expanding the forest and wood products sector in the NT. Combining timber production with carbon credits, biodiversity gains and First nations land management outcomes can significantly improve project viability, diversify revenue streams and ultimately attract investment.
