This project facilitated a learning exchange between two Aboriginal clans to enable direct clan-to clan knowledge transfer regarding different types of forestry businesses. Each of the two participating clans currently operate a business on their country – Gumatj focused only on native forestry and processing, and Tiwi operating large-scale plantations. Tiwi and Gumatj people have very limited opportunities to travel to other forestry operations to gain an understanding of opportunities available to develop on their own country. This project is founded on the principles of Aboriginal learning modalities: story telling, connection to country, place-based learning and relationships.
